ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Master’s program in Economics at Sherbrooke International University is designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistical methods, regardless of their undergraduate background. Students with a prior economics degree will be directly admitted based on their performance evaluation, while those from other disciplines will receive preparation through basic undergraduate courses. The program emphasizes practical application of theoretical concepts through extensive research opportunities and close interaction between faculty and students. Specializations offered include environment and energy economics, political economy, and development economics. Instruction is conducted in English to facilitate global learning and communication.
EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
The master's program in economics offers a structured curriculum comprising two compulsory course advanced microeconomics and advanced macroeconomics and five elective courses covering econometrics, business department elective courses, research methods, and accounting and finance department elective courses, along with a compulsory seminar course. Additionally, students have the option to participate in practical courses. Attendance is mandatory for all courses, and for students enrolled in the thesis graduate program, the seminar course culminates in the submission of a thesis proposal. Under the guidance of a thesis supervisor, students are expected to develop a high-quality master's thesis, which is subsequently defended before a thesis jury. Alternatively, students enrolled in the non-thesis master's degree program must complete two compulsory and six elective courses, followed by the fulfillment of a graduation project, with attendance being mandatory for all courses as well.
