ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Computer science is a multifaceted discipline encompassing a wide array of subjects including computer systems, distributed computing, computer networks, communications, and signal processing. Drawing upon principles from mathematics and natural sciences, computer scientists apply their expertise to the theoretical framework, design, and implementation of systems and devices aimed at benefiting society. Within this dynamic field, computer engineers are versed in various domains of computer science and engineering, engaging in the intricate design and analysis of digital computers and networks, spanning both software and hardware realms. Their expertise extends across diverse areas such as computer architecture, graphics, system software, data structures, algorithms, distributed computing, and networks. Throughout their coursework, students delve into advanced programming languages like C++ and Java, utilize software packages for analysis and design, tackle system software design including operating systems, explore hardware/software interfaces and embedded systems, and harness the power of computers to address engineering challenges. Prospective applicants to this program should hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, electrical engineering, or a related scientific or engineering discipline, with prerequisite coursework in computer science.
EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
The Master of Science in Computer Engineering program at Sherbrooke International University provides students with the flexibility to choose between thesis and non-thesis options, catering to diverse educational and professional aspirations. In the thesis program, students complete seven courses along with a seminar and thesis requirement, with two compulsory courses and five elective courses spanning various disciplines. Conversely, the non-thesis program is tailored for individuals seeking to advance their academic and professional goals without the thesis component, comprising ten courses and a graduation project, including two compulsory courses and eight elective courses. The curriculum encompasses a broad spectrum of topics including computer networks, artificial intelligence, signal processing, computer architecture, software engineering, programming languages, database applications, data mining, and natural language processing. Additionally, students have the opportunity to enroll in courses from other engineering fields. Recognizing the importance of industry partnerships, our program is affiliated with esteemed organizations such as the Oracle Academy and Microsoft Imagine Academy, providing students with valuable resources and opportunities for practical skill development.
