ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The field of clinical psychology is experiencing rapid growth within the health sciences domain, with a burgeoning demand for skilled professionals. With an increasing global population and the corresponding rise in mental health issues, there is a pressing need for specialized clinical psychologists across various sectors. However, the current supply of clinical psychologists trained to international standards falls short of meeting this demand. At Sherbrooke International University, our Clinical Psychology Program is dedicated to addressing this gap by equipping professionals with the expertise needed to address the diverse and complex challenges in this field. Our program offers both project-based and thesis-based tracks, allowing students to tailor their academic journey to their career aspirations. Through a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses theoretical, applied, and elective courses, graduates emerge ready to make meaningful contributions to the field of clinical psychology and meet the evolving needs of individuals and communities.
EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
At Sherbrooke International University, our Master's degree program in clinical psychology adheres closely to the principles outlined in the Boulder Conference, which emphasize a balanced approach to clinician training. Our program integrates rigorous academic study, scientific inquiry, and hands-on clinical practice to cultivate well-rounded professionals equipped with both advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Through a combination of supervised clinical projects and hands-on practice under the guidance of seasoned professionals, students gain invaluable real-world experience while honing their clinical competence. This graduate program is ideally suited for individuals holding a bachelor's degree in Psychology or Guidance and Psychological Counselling (with appropriate scientific preparation) who aspire to pursue careers in clinical settings, teaching, research, and social care.
Our program is structured to bolster theoretical understanding and practical skills essential for clinical practitioners, including proficiency in intelligence and personality testing, interviewing techniques, various psychotherapies, and research methodologies. At Sherbrooke International University, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of expert clinical psychologists who are poised to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals facing mental and emotional challenges.
CAREER AREAS
At Sherbrooke International University, our program lays the foundation for a scientific comprehension of human behavior and mental processes, the identification of psychopathological conditions, and the implementation of psychotherapy-based interventions to promote well-being. Through our graduate program, we aim to equip students to become Licensed Clinical Psychologists capable of delivering evidence-based services to individuals, families, and communities across diverse health and educational settings.
Upon completion of our Clinical Psychology Master's Program, graduates are prepared to serve as psychologists in schools, kindergartens, hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, and correctional facilities, providing specialized expertise. Additionally, they may pursue roles as educators and academic faculty at universities or hold positions as officials within public and private institutions and organizations. At Sherbrooke International University, we are committed to empowering our graduates to make meaningful contributions to society through their work in clinical psychology.
