ABOUT THE PROGRAM

At Sherbrooke International University, the Doctorate of Architecture Course (Ph.D.) is designed to enrich students' understanding and application of architectural principles, from planning and design to construction methodologies. Through rigorous research and analytical discourse, students delve into the theoretical and practical aspects of architecture, honing their abilities to articulate complex ideas both in writing and through oral presentations.

Our program offers a dynamic learning environment where students explore architectural theories and their real-world applications across a range of core and elective modules. With a focus on adaptability and innovation, students are encouraged to embrace emerging technologies and economic trends, fostering creativity and independence in their research pursuits.

Over the course of eight semesters, students engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes seven core courses and a seminar. Upon successful completion of the Ph.D. qualifying examination, students embark on the culmination of their academic journey: the preparation and defense of a thesis under the guidance of their supervisors. This thesis, a contribution to the architectural literature, reflects the culmination of their scholarly endeavors and prepares them for impactful roles as researchers and educators in the field of architecture.
